The new price for Nexium 40 mg is $3.49 per pill, but the price may rise if the pill’s manufacturer fails to get a discount on its retail price.
The generic version of the drug, Nexium, comes in a pack of 24 tablets that is typically sold at a discount of 50%. A lower-strength tablet of 40 mg is available for as low as $0.01 per tablet.
Nexium is known as a proton pump inhibitor and works by decreasing acid production in the stomach. It reduces acid production in the heart and can help heal damage caused by acid reflux disease.

If you find the same medication isn’t working as you’d hoped, call your doctor or pharmacist. But you can purchase a new prescription for the same drug over-the-counter from your local pharmacy.
The cost of a prescription is different for every 10 mg tablet, so the savings in cost from Nexium 40mg may not be significant. However, if the prescription is not valid and you need to take it regularly, the retail price may rise to $1.59 per pill.
If you need to take the prescription every day, you may find Nexium 40 mg can save you up to 80%.
